Central Africa and Cameroon are facing a number of security challenges.
Following the efforts of the national governments and the international community to provide security in the sub-region, the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung is working to make security governance a priority for all members of society. As part of this, an inclusive approach is being mobilised to bring both state and non-state actors together to discuss the issue of security and the role of each party in the conflict prevention and resolution process.
Since 2021, the focus on security has taken on an enhanced dimension devoted to supporting women's organizations working on peace and security issues. This is illustrated by the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung's support for the " National Women’s Convention for Peace in Cameroon " Platform, a constellation of over 70 organisations and networks of women's peace-building associations. The convention actively lobbies for the implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security.
