International conference on renewable energies

Alongside PROMOTE 2024, the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung assisted with the organisation of the International Renewable Energy Conference.

Spearheaded by the Association Camerounaise pour les Énergies Renouvelables (ACER), this conference was held between the 22nd and 23rd February 2024 at the Palais des Congrès in Yaoundé. It brought together dozens of stakeholders (authorities, international institutions, associations, companies, researchers, students, etc.) from Europe, Africa and several regions of Cameroon, with the aim of setting up a framework for dialogue on the issue of energy transition in Cameroon.

On the eve of this Conference, Ms Nina Netzer, director, and Ms Stéphanie Njiomo, Programme Officer, were welcomed by H.E. Mr Gaston ELOUNDOU ESSOMBA, Minister of Water and Energy of the Republic of Cameroon. During this meeting, which was granted simultaneously to several other partners in the Renewable Energy sector, the Director informed the Minister of the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung's efforts to promote renewable energies and policies favourable to environmental protection.

The Friedrich Ebert Stiftung applauds the interest shown by the Government and non-state actors, including ACER, in the development of renewable energies as alternative solutions for meeting Cameroon's energy demands.
